Manufacturing Cost Accountant
A manufacturing cost accountant primarily manages and analyzes the costs associated with production, including direct materials, direct labor, and manufacturing overhead. They ensure accurate financial reporting and help develop cost-saving strategies to improve profitability.
RESPONISIBILITIES:
- Work with management to develop and polish appropriate manufacturing cost model for various production lines, and keep improving costing process to accurately figure out the cost for each product line.
- Work closely with sales to ensure accurate and product specific cost data is available for quoting and other pricing decisions as needed
- Assist in decision-making to resolve areas of inefficiencies in manufacturing based on analytical data.
- Develop, analyze and distribute pertinent manufacturing data including gross margin, yield reporting, aged inventory reporting, and others.
- Prepare month-end journal entries related to COGS, E&O, PPV and other manufacturing related financial accounts. Prepare month-end reconciliations for these and any other manufacturing balance sheet account.
- Calculate and record quarterly labor and overhead capitalization schedule and monthly obsolescence analysis
- Provide analysis of COGS accounts on a monthly basis.
- Provide GL accounting, monthly/yearly P&L statement, AR posting, collections, bank reconciliations and other financial reports as needed
- Responsible for cycle count process and related inventory adjustments
- Maintain and monitor product costing, including establishing standard cost systems
- Integrate ERP systems to provide accurate financial reporting related to cost and financial analysis
- Provide accurate sales information report monthly with all required elements
- Assist with the development of business plans, budgets and forecasts
- Assist with the development and management of customers and product line based on the 80/20 philosophy.
- Oversee capital expenditure budgets
- Support external audit and mid-year review process while also assisting as needed with internal audit queries
- Establish A/R and A/P management review meetings as required to ensure due dates are met.
- Enter approved invoices into payment system for payment.
- Other duties assigned by management
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment or previous experience equivalent.
- Accounting experience as it relates to recording entries and reconciling balance sheet accounts as well as calculating/analyzing manufacturing variances.
- Knowledge of business related taxes in the US.
- Strong MS Office skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. ERP systems such as NetSuite, Quickbooks, Navision.
- Self-driven, Sense of urgency, Well-organized, Strong interpersonal skills, Excellent written and verbal communication skills, Cross cultural communications skills, etc.
- English and Mandarin bilingual is a plus.
